This is really lovely with an intense nose of lemon, stonefruit, spice and chalk. On the palate more chalk, iron and great concentration and energy. Hints of wax and butter. Towards the finish even more intense lemon, almost tingling, and a long tail of unripe peach, lemon and chalk. Very impressive! 92 pts.
Bekräftar min bild av 2017 vit bourgogne - bästa årgången sedan 2014.
2014 Dunn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain
Power cab is not my prefered style, but this was really nice. Intense, heady boquet with blackcurrant, blackberries and blueberries with some rowan and sloan mixed in. Light cedar, hints of fresh tobacco leaf, lightly roasted coffee beans, aniseed, clove and just a whisper of vanilla. Very pure. On the palate lots and lots of dark, intense fruit but fresh, not overly sweet. Good acidity and energy with glowing spice and a nice structure with fine grained tannins in the background, more or less completely covered by the fruit but still there if one pays attention. Iron, hints of pencil. Good detail and depth and very long. A bit of sweet heat towards the finish but not too much. Very well balanced between opulence, structure and freshness. Bravo! 93 pts.
Very rich, almost sweet with tropical fruit, wax/glycerol vanilla and hints of butter. Despite the generousity close to perfect balance with energy and vibe. I guess the medium+ acids provide enough lift but they are not very prominent and I am slightly at loss as to how this can be so good. I am not usually one for over the top chards. But this is truly unique in style and does not excibit the dreary, heavy popcorn and syrup style of, for example, overextracted Cali-Chard a la Walter Hansel. Simply great wine! And very little/no oak to this as I understand it. Somewhat reminiscent of the wines from Domaine Valette. 92 pts.
Superspeciell stil men för jävla bra för nästan inga pengar alls, i bourgognesammanhang i alla fall.
1999 Domaine Potinet-Ampeau Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes
Perfectly mature bourgogne. Sweet, silky fruit (ripe strawberries, raspberries, lingonberries and sloan) sous bois, truffle, iron tinged minerals, a light touch of charcuteries and a lovely, tingling spiciness that is especially prominent on the long, savoury finish. Good acidity, tannins resolved, great complexity and balance. Perhaps at times borderline thin fruitwise and a touch greenish, but overall a very good showing. No need to wait further. 92 pts.
Pontinet-Ampeau är speciella då de ofta lagrar sina viner rätt länge själva och släpper dem mogna, något mycket ovanligt i Bourgogne.
2005 Louis Jadot Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens
PnP, at just above cellar temp. For the first few minutes a bit closed and stern but opens up quickly with a good mix of blue and red berries, bay leaf, earthy minerals and hints of light tobacco. Still some tannins and prominent acidity. No signs of maturity but drinking well. Surprisingly does not improve with air, rather the other way round. After an hour less fruit and acidity dominant. Overall, I would still suggest further cellaring to mellow the acids and deepen the complexity. There ought to be fruit enough, at least according to the initial impressions. 91 pts.
From mag. @ restaurant Sjömagasinet, Gothenburg
Open and quite elegant nose with matchstick, beeswax, hints of vanilla, lemon, lime, iodine, oystershells, slightly unripe stonefruit and hints of yellow and green apples. Also a faint whiff of white flowers and honeysuckle. Quite complex for such a young wine. On the palate also very well balanced with good energy from zippy acids and a pronounced minerality. Chalk, iron, seashore etc. Not as broad and generous as one might expect, but with very good texture and substance. Verly long. Wonderfull wine! 94 pts.
Initially a bit shy on the nose but opens up quite quickly with matchstick, butter, beeswax, granny smith apples, lemon and hints of stonefruit. On the palate good balance between the rich texture and the lively acidity. Fruit is there but not at all dominant. Good minerality with chalk and iron, but could perhaps be a little more intense in that regard. Good lenght, dominated by salty lemons. Very good! Glad to have more in the cellar. 93 pts.
