"The recently (2008) disgorged 1964 was a lot fresher than the historically disgorded one (around 1971), and being tasted right after the 1986 and 1978, seemed mineral with toast and coffee dominating. It was still almost fully sparkling. The older 1964 still had a little effervescence. Towards the end of the evening after two hours and over dinner, the younger one evolved into notes of acacia honey and slightly bitter orange peal, and came closer and closer to the older one. While it maintained more youthfullness, it was obvious from the structure and mouthfeel, as well as the aromatics, that the wines were identical. As I often say they were like two photographs of the same (loved) person taken 20 years apart... While youth is an advantage, maturity ...may be less superficial."
