Finns en stor dansk undersökning "The Copenhagen City Heart Study" på ämnet som för några år sedan släppte artikeln "Amount and type of alcohol and risk of dementia" som finns med som referens i första länken.
Här skriver man bl.a.: "In this study, monthly intake of beer was associated with a significantly higher risk of dementia, whereas monthly and weekly intake of wine was associated with significantly lower risk of dementia."

Finns även en svensk undersökning från 2008 på kvinnor i Göteborg "Alcoholic beverages and incidence of dementia: 34-year follow-up of the prospective population study of women in Goteborg" som även den kommer fram till att vin skyddar mot demens. Man skriver bl.a. "Wine drinking was protectively associated with dementia-free mortality in both the baseline model and the model with updated covariates, although no longer significantly in the multivariate model. Although beer was not associated with dementia, its association with longevity was comparable to that of wine. The use of spirits, on the other hand, tended to shorten the (dementia-free) survival time."
